A note from Cassey:

As you know, dupes are such a huge problem in the fashion industry. When I first designed my Pirouette Skort, I didn't know how many thousands of battles I would have to fight to protect my creation. I am grateful to have been awarded a design patent from the USPTO for my unique design, but it's not enough to change consumer behavior and the dirty parts of the industry.

In Tracy's DIY Upcycle Kit, you'll find the actual dupes that were going to be thrown away. When the dupers finally agreed to stop selling the infringing product and insisted on discarding it all, I forced them to send me the dupes. That’s how the POPFLEX Upcycle Project was born.

By participating in this project, you're taking a stand AGAINST dupes and SPEAKING UP for independent designers everywhere.

As you deconstruct these dupes, let your seam ripper be your mighty sword and let the material you collect be a canvas for an honest new beginning. Thank you for breathing a second life into this fabric.

The skirt is to die for!

This was my first experience upcycling clothing. I learned a lot! Watching Tracy's YouTube video was incredibly helpful. If you don't have a serger there are ways around it (pre-cut the fabric, use an overcast foot, and a stretch stitch). My skirt seemed to take forever and required a lot of time and patience. However, it was completely worth it. The movement this skirt has is insane. The dress is so fun to twirl in! I'm a intermediate seamstress at best and I did not have difficulty with this pattern. I highly recommend to anyone with a sewing machine!

Thank you so much for such a lovely review and recommendation. We are thrilled that you love it!

I am so excited to make this!

I purchased the Kit and got so much fabric to dismantle and make my dress! Printing the pattern with just my size was easy to adapt and I have it printed. Now to get out the seam ripper and go!

So excited!

I received the kit and directions and watched the video, no just have to make the dress! Such a great concept for up-cycling these dupes.

Just The Pattern

I bought just the pattern since the kit was sold out. The pattern looks easy enough but it is missing notations on how much and what type of fabric to use as well as the patter pieces for the ties on the skirt. The instructions are only on Youtube and they also do not include this information.
